I’m doing many many many of these little wall batiks right now. I do either very big: 4X5′; or very small: 4×4″. Right now my work table is full and I’m waxing away. I’m particularily busy creating these guys I call “dirtybits”. I draw them in hot wax, then colour with dye. I leave them to process by wrapping them in plastic which keeps them damp for 24 hours, long enough for the dye to set. This is batch dyeing. I learned about this technique at Maiwa Handprints, a great resource for dyers here in Vancouver.
